- Metastases are far more common than primary bone tumors (25:1)
- 80% of skeletal metastases are due to lung, breast, prostate, and kidney
- 50% of cancer patients will eventually develop skeletal metastases
- Breast - lytic or sclerotic
- Lung - typically lytic
- Prostate - typically sclerotic
- Renal Cell - typically lytic
- Thyroid - typically lytic
