  • 2% of population
  • 2 feet of ileocecal valve
  • 2 inches in length
  • 2% are symptomatic
  • 2 types of common ectopic tissue (gastric and pancreatic)
  • 2 years old is the most common age at clinical presentation
  • Males are 2 times as likely to be affected


  • Two main complications in adults
    • Diverticulitis (20%) as in this case
    • Intestinal obstruction (40%).
  • Children present with painless rectal bleeding
  • Positive on Meckel scan only if contain gastric mucosa (~50%)
