Hemangioendothelioma

  • Most common benign vascular hepatic tumor in first year of life
  • Most common symptomatic tumor in the first 6 months of life
  • Similar to giant hemangioma of adults
  • 50% have associated cutaneous hemangiomas
  • Complications include high-output congestive heart failure
  • a/w Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome - consumptive coagulopathy, thrombocytopenia
  • Benign, will regress like cutaneous hemangiomas, but may have to treat if symptomatic
