Normal Gallium
  • Half life 3 days
  • Energies 93, 185 and 300 keV
  • Localizes in (from greatest to least): liver, bone marrow and skeleton, spleen, salivary and lacrimal glands. No kidneys.
  • Renal and fecal excretion
  • Uptake in infection, inflammation and tumor (replaced by PET)
  • Because of fecal excretion, not used for intraabdominal infection


Commonly used to evaluate for vertebral osteomyelitis
