Flexion teardrop

Triangular fracture fragment that arises from anteroinferior portion of vertebral body, most unstable type of cervical vertebral body fractures secondary to disruption of the posterior ligaments. Anterior compression deformity distinguishes it from hyperextention teardop injury. Often results in quadriplegia due to contusion of the anterior spinal cord.
